HOW TO: Transfer MicroSD Card Contents (including Apps2ext)

Today I received my 16GB MicroSD to replace my now full 8GB. Normally to transfer contents it’s quite straightforward – just copy everything to computer then back onto the SD card (or from SD to SD if you’ve got a card reader). However, if you’ve got a rooted phone running apps2sd (also known as Apps2Ext) then there’s slightly more work involved to make sure that you end up transferring all your apps too. The method below describes how I managed it, and under that I’ve listed a few alternatives…

Requirements

Rooted phone

SD card with ext partition

ADB installed – how to

Let’s look at the if/then/else construct in a Bash shell script and see how to control the flow of a script with conditional logic. The general form of if/then/else is shown here, with the actual syntax shown in boldface and the parts you must supply in normal type:

if [ condition is true ]
then
execute these commands
else
execute those commands
fi

The else clause is optional, but you must end the construct with the fi command. You can also have nested if clauses by using the elif command like this:

if [ condition1 is true ]
then
execute these commands
elif [ condition2 is true ]
then
execute these commands
else
execute those commands
fi

So what kind of conditions can we test for? If you’re dealing with numbers, here are the conditional expressions you can use. In other words, any of these expressions can go inside the brackets on the if or elif statement:

num1 -eq num2 True if num1 equals num2.

num1 -ne num2 True if num1 is not equal to num2.

num1 -lt num2 True if num1 is less than num2.

num1 -gt num2 True if num1 is greater than num2.

num1 -le num2 True if num1 is less than or equal to num2.

num1 -ge num2 True if num1 is greater than or equal to num2.

If you’re comparing character strings, these are the valid conditional expressions:

str1 = str2 True if str1 and str2 are identical.

str1 != str2 True if str1 and str2 are not identical.

-n str1 True if str1 is not null (length is greater than zero).

-z str1 True if str1 is null (length is zero).

You can also test certain file conditions, such as whether or not files exist, the type of file, and so on. Here are the conditional expressions for files:

-f somefile True if somefile exists and is an ordinary file.

-d somefile True if somefile exists and is a directory.

-s somefile True if somefile contains data (the size is not zero).

-r somefile True if somefile is readable.

-w somefile True if somefile is writable.

-x somefile True if somefile is executable.

And finally, here are the logical operators, for performing tests that involve and, or, and not conditions.

cond1 -a cond2 True if both cond1 and cond2 are true.

cond1 -o cond2 True if either cond1 or cond2 is true.

! cond1 True if cond1 is false.

It is very common for me to have to do a sip capture on my asterisk servers or any other voip application to debug what is going on. I like to use TCP dump to capture sip packets and then analyze them in Wireshark. Here is a quick guide how to do this since it really makes debugging a lot easier.

1. Download and install Wireshark on your windows computer.
2. Download and install WinSCP on your windows computer.
3. Use putty to login to your linux server.
4. Once logged in use the following command to start the SIP capture:

tcpdump -i eth0 -n -s 0 port 5060 -vvv -w /home/capture_file_name

-i = interface you want to capture on, eth0, eth1, eth2, etc, you will want to do this on your public interface most likely.
-n = Do not convert ip addresses to names, prevents dns lookups.
-s = How many bytes of data to grab from each packet, zero means use the required length to catch whole packets.
port = What port to listen to, 5060 is the default port for SIP.
-vvv = Even more verbose output, this will give you as many details as possible.
-w = Write to a raw file to be parsed later.
5. Now that we are capturing packets let it run for a while at least 5 to 10 minutes to collect some data then to stop the capture use CTRL Key + C.
6. Once you stopped the capture login to the server using WinSCP and go to the home directory. You will find the capture file in there just copy that file to your windows computer so you will be able to open it with Wireshark.
7. Start Wireshark and open the file which you just copied from your linux server.
8. Now you will be able to look at all the sip packets and get an idea of what is going on with the server.
9. There is also a great tool in wireshark to see calls made on the server, in the menu bar click on Telephony then VoIP Calls. This will show all the calls that were captured with TCPdump. You will also be able to see the packets sent between the two end points by selecting a call and clicking Graph at the bottom.

Apps on Facebook.com are web apps that are loaded in the context of Facebook. You can build your app using any language or tool chain that supports web programming, such as PHP, Python, Java or C#.

Apps on Facebook.com are loaded into a Canvas Page. A Canvas Page is quite literally a blank canvas within Facebook on which to run your app. You populate the Canvas Page by providing a Canvas URL that contains the HTML, JavaScript and CSS that make up your app. When a user requests the Canvas Page, we load the Canvas URL within an iframe on that page. This results in your app being displayed within the standard Facebook chrome.

For example, suppose that you have a web app available at http://www.example.com/canvas. This is your Canvas URL. When you setup your app on Facebook, you must specify a Canvas Page name that is appended to http://apps.facebook.com/. In this example, we will use your_app as the Canvas Page name. When the user navigates to http://apps.facebook.com/your_app in their browser, they will see the contents of http://www.example.com/canvas loaded inside of Facebook.com.
